I am a new longarm quilter and want to do charity quilts. Do you have suggestions where I can start? Hospitals? I would like to do quilts for children.
Minnie,
Thank you for your comment and question.
It’s wonderful that you want to make quilts for charitable causes – we applaud you!
Have you looked online for groups?
Groups like the Linus Connection may exist in your area and be a good resource for local organizations in need of donated quilts for children.
I’d also reach out to local quilt guilds in your area to see if they have a list of those in need.
Again, we applaud you for your desire to give back through quilting for others.
Happy New Year,
Stephanie & The Hobbs Team
I am a new quilter and bought your batting for the first time. Being cotton I’m worried about shrinkage. How can I decrease the risk of shrinkage in the wash after its quilted?
Natalie,
Welcome to quilting!
Our products (except our poly products) will shrink between 3-5%.
Please do not pre-wash our batting products – it’s not required and could ruin your batting.
For best results, we recommend washing quilts on a delicate cycle, at a low temp, and also drying them on a very low temp – and this applies to all quilts.
Please note: if you pre-wash your fabrics, note that there will be some ‘puckering’ in your quilt when you wash it due to the batting shrinking 3-5% and the fabric no longer shrinking.
Should you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 254-741-0040.
Happy Quilting!
